Dave has been working in the aviation industry for over 40 years, specialising in engineering management in support of a very diverse variety of aviation operations. He started his career in the RAF, building and testing Avon, Spey & Adour engines and then worked on Sea King Helicopters in support of Search And Rescue (SAR) operations. He joined Bond Helicopters in 1988, initially in the Oil & Gas (O&G) sector, working as a multi licenced engineer and going on to hold the positions of Head of Maintenance, Chief Inspector and Quality Assurance Manager. After the sale of the Offshore division of Bond Helicopters to CHC in 1999 he took up the role of Head of Maintenance of the newly formed Onshore Bond Air Service (BAS) where he went on to become Technical Director. In 2014, after the acquisition by Babcock of the Avincis Group (which included BAS), he took up a central Group role as the Head of Engineering, supporting the Director of Safety and the Fleet Management team on aviation sector projects and incident/accident investigations. He spent his last two years with Babcock as the Aviation Sector Technical Director (Aviation Board Position), leaving in April 2021. He has a great passion for aviation and improving industry safety standards and enjoys sharing his extensive knowledge with aviation businesses.
